Over
the course of this semester in my English 1312 class I have had the opportunity
to make an in-depth exploration of the topic “Should College Athletes Be Paid?”
through a number of assignments. The Genre Analysis allowed me to explore the
power of genres and how those debating this issue use different genres to
further their intent. The Literature Review gave me the chance to conduct
significant research into the topic and present both sides of the argument
through the discussion of three research questions, as well as through the
conduction of my own research. The Documentary provided me an opportunity to
present my research in an effective manner in order to advocate, for the first
time, for some aspect of the controversy. Finally, the Opinion Editorial
allowed me to express my opinion of the issue (yes, finally!), while still
backing up my claims with research. I reflected on each project after it was
completed, and after the semester as a whole. Now I have nothing left but to
